Elspeth Sharp is a Human Resources consultant specialising in performance management, training & development and recruitment, with a strong interest in helping people through coaching and mentoring. She works with management at all levels. Her accreditations include 360 Facilitated®, Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Team Management Systems, DISC, and Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training.

Key Achievements

  • Delivered a variety of Career Management Workshops and coached individuals in job search skills [On contract to Right Management Consultants].
     
  • Coached and mentored managers and staff in resumé preparation and interview skills, business writing, time management, speech writing, public speaking supervisory skills, customer service and Myers Briggs Type Indicator.
     
  • Designed and delivered Teamwork workshops, using MBTI for work teams at Adidas Australia, leading to improved productivity and team results.
     
    • Introduced Leadership and Negotiation Skills training for Management/Senior Management after selling the concept and identifying and appointing the appropriate external consultants.
       
    • Developed and managed individual development programs for the graduates, including individual coaching, mentoring and group training.
       
  • Member of a three person team to push for and introduce the first program in the CBC Bank focussed entirely on people management. The success of this program played a significant role in the decision to change the direction of management training - a decision which lead to people management skills being integrated into all management training programs. Implemented many of these changes.
     
  • Researched and developed the initial comprehensive Human Resources Policy and Procedures Manual for Hindal Corporate in accordance with Government legislation and in consultation with management team. Manual delivered within the required time lines and on budget.
     
  • Designed and developed a Performance Review process for Hindal Corporate and Mambourin Enterprises ensuring performance measurement and feedback processes are implemented.
     
  • Designed and developed a range of workshops for clients of HR Alliance, including business writing, customer service, time managment and career development.
     
  • Introduced Change Management workshops at the time of the merger with the ANZ Bank to help reduce anxiety of staff by communicating progress of the changes and the merger.
     
  • Chaired a committee of Board and staff members undertaking a strategic review and implementing the Strategic Plan, while a member of the Board of Management of St. John's Homes for Boys and Girls.
     
  • Assessed applicants for Australian Taxation Office Call Centre, including assessment of telephone interview, written applications and assessment centre activities [On contract to Morgan and Banks].
     
  • Designed and conducted a range of learning programs for professional development in the private, public and not for profit sectors to meet organisational and individual needs to improve performance and productivity.
     
  • Developed Training Needs Analysis process for two Local Governments.
     
  • Conducted a Training Needs Analysis through manager and staff interviews for an Investment Bank, designed and conducted the appropriate development activities.
     
  • Participated in a major Organisation Development project - Job Analysis, Performance Analysis and Benchmarking within Telstra [on contract to Joint Horizons].
     
  • Worked with Camberwell South Primary School to develop a Business Plan for the after hours school program.
     
  • Designed, developed and conducted a self development program, Managing Workplace Issues, for women in management positions or striving to achieve a management role.
     
  • Recruited and retained the budgeted number of graduates each year while working for National Mutual Royal Bank through conducting extensive interview process and short listing for final panel interview with General Managers.
     
  • Designed and implemented a performance management system for all levels within the National Mutual Royal Bank [joint contract].
     
  • Appointed and managed an external consultancy to conduct a Training Needs Analysis for the National Mutual Royal Bank to ensure appropriate training was implemented.

 

Formerly Principal Consultant with The MaST Organisation; Senior Manager, Management Development with National Mutual Royal Bank; Management positions with The Commercial Banking Company of Sydney Limited (in Sydney) and The National Australia Bank (in Melbourne).

 

Published Material

Presented a paper, "Current Issues in Human Resource Management", to The Annual Conference of The Victorian Commercial Teachers Association in 1993. My paper was subsequently published in Compak 94, the Journal of the Victorian Commercial Teachers Association in May 1994.

Interviewed for the feature story, Graduate Employment: "Feast or Famine and Competing in a Tough Market", which appeared in the Australian Accountant, August 1991.

Worked with the Australian Institute of Bankers in writing a brochure "Effective Study Techniques" which the Institute produced for its members.
